A tale of two cities

A story of two cities, between the orderly façade of the newly built apartment block in the background, and the collectively graffitied corrugated fence in the foreground. The foreground shows the messy lines of a red and pink throw-up nesting tightly into its surface, while the neat geometric elevation in the background reveals a probable future.

The fence in the foreground may look grimy and lawless, but it is accessible, and it supports a communal discourse of inclusion, participation and expression. By contrast, the zig-zagged façade of the building behind creates a readily-determined, septic, out-of-bounds environment, which imposes a single vision of what cities should look like.
