Bright lights, public city

Photo of Ghanaian journalist Mike Eghan taken in 1967 by James Barnor, a Ghanaian photographer who has been documenting African diaspora life in Britain for decades. This picture is titled “Mike Eghan at Piccadilly Circus“ and it exudes immersion in urban life, occupation of the centre, and surface displays as the essence of the public city.
