Blank canvas??

The language of real estate and development is often jarring with the lived experiences of the communities where it speaks. It addresses the aspirations of those who are not (yet) there, speaks on their behalf, and packages space as a desirable and digestible commodity.

🤬 Calling any place a BLANK CANVAS is ignorant, offensive, and violent - yet estate agents have a legal mandate to do so.

The tags, though - well, they will much more readily be seen as the ignorant, offensive, and violent spatial occupations here. How naive of us to not see where the real violence lies here! 💡

Also: who can resist such an explicit invitation of a blank canvas in the city?
